The other day we had this ‘Inclusion and Diversity‘ kick offs where we talk about how diverse we are and how we accept this at work and make it to our success.

“Human salvation lies in the hands of the creatively maladjusted.” ~ Martin Luther King Jr.

This is done at work – now I am sure this must be taking place at some level in schools too.

Basically, this is to help bring down the gap between any cultural aspects between individuals and to respect your fellows, co-workers and your neighbors.

“Race hate isn’t human nature; race hate is the abandonment of human nature.” ~ Orson Welles

I was shocked when I heard the other day a lady walks in to a day care system in School and say loud and clear to the authority that she doesn’t want any Mexicans near her kids!

“We all live with the objective of being happy; our lives are all different and yet the same.” ~ Anne Frank

I mean, that’s a very big statement. My first reaction was ‘Go back’! That is the only solution.

Imagine people coming from different countries with all kinds of issues – sometimes it is not safe to live in their country or sometimes it’s the class system, the caste system and what not.

When you migrate and make another country as your second home – buddy then it’s you who made the choice – you can’t bring your systems here and implement them.

“There is nowhere you can go and only be with people who are like you. Give it up.” ~ Bernice Johnson Reagan

I totally abandon such thoughts that differentiate people based on their color, creed, caste, religion. This is a shameful thing in today’s era where I believe we are above all these things.

“I do not want my house to be walled in on all sides and my windows to be stifled. I want all the cultures of all lands to be blown about my house as freely as possible. But I refuse to be blown off my feet by any.” ~ MK Gandhi

In the name of Diversity, what are we doing? Are we trying to achieve the right thing or are we creating more hurdles for our coming generation to live with in such circumstances?

Whom to blame?

“Laundry is the only thing that should be separated by color.”

    Dawn,

People who say such mean things are not exposed to other culture or just their attitude by showing their race or power. They shud learn by themselves than taught by others.

Ignorance is soemthing we gotto say coz these people only read things witin 4 walls.

You are right but this was about a Telugu Lady who passed such remark. I was ashamed someone from India would make such a remark – I had never even imagined!!!

Rightly said, but we shuldn’t leave our roots also and at the same time we have no rights to impose them on others.
ut too much pride in one’s own religion or God or practices makes him do otherwise, I believe.
