When Indu reached home her parents were eagerly waiting for her. Parents were happy to see the results and Indu’s mom brought a book for her to read which was given by her mom’s colleague especially for Indu.
Indu changed into cozy pajamas and her mom brought her hot tea and Indu started looking at the book. As much Indu was trying to read the book her mind was going back to college as what happened today. When night came and took her into the arms of fairy to sleep and when dawn came – was all kind of a dream.
Indu when she woke up her mom was ready to go to work and so her dad too. Indu thought to relax through the day as the previous day was too hectic for her mentally if not physically.
She had her breakfast and was listening to her favorite music when she see’s two jokers near her house. She was not ready for this – it was David and Edward.
Edward came to Indu and said so how are you doing after yesterday’s meeting and Indu kind of didn’t want to even think anything like that happened in her life. She was kind of ignoring and David being restless there just grabs Indu’s hand and tells her let’s go to the kitchen, you prepare the tea and I can talk to you and let Edward change the music.
Indu is in the kitchen filling water in the pot and ready to keep on the gas stove when David says slowly to Indu,
‘I just forced Edward to come to your place as I felt yesterday you answered under pressure and I wanted to confirm that you also love me as I do.’
Indu didn’t want to go through this again and so Indu had to tell him that she is scared about the whole thing and she doesn’t know what to do as she is not sure of anything. She said she likes David as a friend and loving and all she doesn’t know yet.
Indu’s sincerity had truth and some value which made David to solve the matter by saying, let’s take it from here and see how it grows. Indu was kind of ready for this kind of adjustment, as she was not sure of this love and boyfriend thing and move over she was more scared about what if anyone comes to know about this. She asked David and Edward to promise that this is not leaked to anyone and not even in the group. Edward was kind of disagreeing to it as he felt that everything should be shared with the group but Indu was then not ready for this kind of special friendship with David and so it comes back in circle.
Finally the decision was Indu and David will give time to each other to mingle and let time decide for itself and it will not be shared within the group.
It didn’t stay long from Rita, as whenever David wanted to talk to Indu in private he needed someone’s help and Edward alone wasn’t doing much great job at this. Rita was happy for Indu as Rita and Indu were best friends within the group too.
Rita in fact used to push Indu in many things as Rita was a bit forward girl and Indu was totally opposite, a shy and society conscious girl. David loves this part of Rita and he used to call her like my dear sister only you can understand my dilemma!
Time started flying and so the college years were too! Indu was focused on studies no matter what and so she made her friends too. David was never serious so he had some papers to pass and Indu kept on advising him to focus on studies.
There came a time when everyone started focusing on their future plans. In all this time Indu’s sympathy grew into love for David.
A time came when Indu along with her family went to David’s house – she asked for David’s commitment for marriage. David, probably didn’t see it coming so fast and the thought made him scared as he has still to pass in his papers and complete the degree and do the future plans for the career and this is too early and spontaneous reaction was that – ‘Indu, I don’t think I am ready for this.’
“There is a time for departure even when there’s no certain place to go.” ~ Tennessee Williams
Indu was disappointed but she took her out of this and she joined to complete her post graduation. Indu probably didn’t like the ‘No’, from David as that clearly gave her the indication that David is not going to take things seriously and hence Indu just moved on with her studies.
By the time Indu was completing her first year of post graduation, she had another set of friend circle. One day Indu’s family was making plans to visit David’s parents and Indu seemed to be out of everything and she also took the initiative to spend the day in David’s house.
It was an invitation for lunch from David’s parents. David’s mom is a great cook and everyone enjoyed the lunch. David was kind of looking for an opportunity to talk to Indu and Indu was clearly avoiding it. A time came when Indu went to get the sweet dish, David grabbed the opportunity and this time he was agreeing to the commitment which Indu was asking 2 years back.
“Time is free, but it’s priceless. You can’t
own it, but you can use it. You can’t keep
it, but you can spend it. Once you’ve lost it
you can never get it back.” ~ Harvey Mackay

By now Indu’s thoughts and perception about life had more matured and she didn’t want to get into any commitment at this time and she passed on the proposal.
It was a Sunday morning when David and family were invited for a wedding reception. David met Indu but this time she was with her husband. David had a big shock. Indu was good to David, she introduced him to her husband but somehow David dragged himself away from everything. He kind of got a slap from time, saying it’s time to focus on career and other future plans as everyone has moved in some or the other way from the group RIDERS.
That day and couple of other incidences when Indu and David happen to meet but there was nothing that brought them together not even as a good friend. Time flies away and years and years after one day Indu found David’s whereabouts on the internet. She immediately tried to contact him and guess what, they both were so excited to share there part of life that they missed sharing with each other.
“In good times and bad times, I’ll be on your side for ever more…that’s what friends are for.”
It was probably after 10-12 years when they met and they figured out about their immaturity and innocence that didn’t let them to think on certain aspect of life. Indu is happily married with her kids and so is David but somewhere he still misses his college girl friend and wants to start the affair again just like how he did in his college days.
Indu and David both are very happy to meet each other after so many years, as it brought them back together no matter what and they cherished all their happy moments together. But is it fair for Indu and David to start the affair at this time when they have their family and kids.
How fair it is to think, little moments should be lived happily as life long any how one goes through the stress of life? I want to know what my friends think about Indu and David – should they continue their affair which they left years and years back or they should remain friends by accepting the present.
“Life is all about timing… the unreachable becomes reachable, the unavailable become available, the unattainable… attainable. Have the patience, wait it out It’s all about timing.” ~ Stacy Charter
Its a terrible thought. If Indu has kids, it would be sending wrong signals. Why does she want to spoil a happily married life. And after some time in life, its not the romance that drives your life, its the family that is the key factor to be remembered.
But to say things is easy. I will tell you people in such circumstances think though it is wrong. They believe that they had wasted the earlier chance, so why waste this opportunity and start the affair. They also believe that life is too short and has to be enjoyed.
But this is all a illusion and all they would be doing is preparing the ground to hurt them self and their family members.
Beautifully written. It has stirred confusion of thoughts in my mind as for me also time is a constraint

Very interesting. Lots to think about in this.
Love that last quote and totally agree..
It kept me thinking, you have expressed so well that I don’t have words to say anything
Suresh Kumar: Suresh, now you talk like a typical Indian – I am sorry to say so because it’s only our culture that will think about the whole world but ourselves
!
See if in a married life there is no romance what is that life worth living for? I understand the part where Indu and David will have to sacrifice about their feelings and emotions but it is a good thought that they know inside their heart that someone is there if needed.
When you say for you also time is a constraint – I will say dear…think appropriately and do the necessary before it’s too late.
I wish you all the best and all the happiness my dear
Cheers and thanks for sharing your true opinion.
Art: Yes, I can totally relate what you are saying Art….as life without love is impossible and living with a stranger all life is another impossible thing which still happens in some part of the world
it’s sad but is also a truth.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts here
Cheers
