It was mother’s day the other day and I really feel proud when I see everywhere kids showing love and respect towards their mother. We always say it should not be one day or a year…everyday one should love and respect their parents as they care for you so much lifelong only to make sure that you are of your own to take care of yourself. In doing so, they sacrifice many things and the kids would not even know about these.

Ritu is like a next door girl and her husband Rahul like any other man who loves his wife and wants to spend rest of his life with Ritu getting old. Both were so happy in each other’s company – seemed like a dream.
Five years of marriage yet, Ritu and Rahul didn’t seem getting enough of each other. Slowly, they started realizing their entire friend circle have at least one kid if not two. It was then when friends started teasing them and suggesting them to bring in a member in the family.
Life was full of excitement and fun that Ritu and Rahul didn’t even know how time was flying. Ritu though gave a thought and started reading about it on the internet – what is the right age to have babies, how one should be prepared for babies etc.
Evening when Ritu and Rahul met after work, Ritu tried her magic of hug and kisses to her hubby Rahul.
Rahul was tensed a bit with some work deadlines. Ritu could make out and she said, ‘Rahul, what happened? Where is my usual Rahul – he is not to be seen today.
Rahul with a smile goes to her to kiss and says. ‘No dear! I was just thinking something work related. I am fine now, let’s go home.
As Rahul was driving, Ritu slowly brings the topic by saying, ‘Rahul, what you think of babies?
Rahul’s face started glowing with a big smile he said, “Are you really thinking about it?
Ritu: I have been thinking and since I have started thinking about our baby – I am just so excited. Don’t you think we should have ours?
Rahul: I will love to have our love to sprout in the form of a baby.
Both were so excited that they started planning and Ritu started sharing as what all she read on the internet.
Today, it’s 15 years to Ritu and Rahul’s marriage. They don’t have a kid which Ritu biologically delivered but they have a daughter – Shruti who is celebrating her 9th birthday with her family and friends.
“Sweater, n.: garment worn by child when its mother is feeling chilly.” ~Ambrose Bierce
Ritu is telling this to one of her friend that, after trying all possible solutions doctors advised Ritu not to try for baby as biologically she can’t have her own child.
This was tough for Ritu more than it was for Rahul. Ritu started feeling dejected by God himself. She started thinking what I have done that God deprived me of being a mother. I am beautiful, healthy and loving – why did he do this to me?
Rahul on the other hand want to try out everything in this world that can bring a child through Ritu.
Money was not a problem for Rahul but money didn’t have the solution for this. Ritu cannot have kids of her was a fact.
Ritu remembers it was then when Ritu and Rahul as usual were coming from work, when Rahul said he needs to fill gas in the car and turned to the nearest Shell gas station.
Rahul was in his own thoughts filling the gas and the TV ad at the gas station was going on and on…!
Ritu suddenly looked out and then came out of the car. She saw the ad on TV – sponsor a child.
Ritu immediately went to Rahul and by pulling his hand she started telling – Dear, look! Why can’t we have a kid? Who say’s we can’t? I still have faith in me and you. We can be good parents to the kids.
Why not adopt one? Let’s adopt someone who needs a home similarly like we need a kid.
“The heart of a mother is a deep abyss at the bottom of which you will always find forgiveness.” ~Honoré de Balzac
Rahul couldn’t understand what Ritu is saying. He was looking at Ritu as if what’s getting in her mind. He said, are you crazy? Can you be a mother to that kid? Can we make that kid ours anytime?
Ritu remembers how her motherly love had taken the path to convince Rahul about adopting a daughter and today both Rahul and Ritu feels so proud of being parents to Shruti.
For any school meeting or related programs when they get a call from the school principal – Shurti’s mom and dad here’s something that you need to know…the rest is story then!
Ritu was still telling her story when something woke her up,
“Mamma, c’mon have a bite this is chocolate cake and you will love it!
Happy Mother’s Day Ritu, as it’s not necessary that you should give birth to a child biologically to be called as Mom! You have nurtured a new born baby like any other mom’s would do.
It’s the love and affection that matters rest is only a physical aspect of it.
